Modification of the 1908 changed the take-down procedure. The trigger guard is hinged and pinned at the front; by unlatching it at the rear and pushing downward, the entire mechanism is released. Finger grooves were changed to serrations. Production ceased about 1914. Some of the patents and designs of this model were used in the first Smith and Wesson automatics.
